A fishing rod is a tool used to catch the fish. Fly rods are thin flexible fishing rods designed to cast a fly lure usually consisting of hook tied with fur, feathers, foam or other light weight materials. Modern fly rods are constructed from man-made composite materials, including fiber glass, carbon/graphite or graphite boron composites. The lightweight rods are capable of casting the very smallest and lightest fly. The size of the rod depend on the fish being caught, the wind and water condition and also to a particular weight of a line, larger and heavier line size will cast larger flies. Fly rods come in variety of line sizes rods for smallest freshwater trout and pinfish to rods of larger size for large saltwater game fish.
Fly rods are almost built out of carbon graphite. The graphite fiber is laid down in such a way so that the rod will not get flat when stressed. The rod tapers from one end to other and the degree of taper determines how much of the rod flexes when stretched. The larger amount of rod that flexes the slower the rod. Slower rods are easier to cast. Furthermore, the process of wrapping of graphite fiber sheets to build a rod creates imperfection that result in rod twist during casting. Rod
